When Trends and Inspiration Collide: My Journey with the Pantone Color of the Year

As a designer, inspiration can come from anywhere—a walk through nature, a well-crafted ad, or even scrolling Instagram late at night. This week, though, I had one of those moments where the universe just clicks together.

I’ve been working on a flyer for a Mommy and Me program, diving into what speaks to young moms today. I followed baby brands, studied their palettes, and noticed a trend: natural, earthy tones were everywhere. These colors feel healthier, more real, and more connected to the values many parents hold close to—things like authenticity, simplicity, and nurturing their children in a grounded way.

From Concept to Creation: These designs for the Mommy and Me Program showcase the natural, earthy tones inspired by modern parenting trends. By blending thoughtful research and creativity, we craft visuals that feel as inviting and nurturing as the program itself.

After spending a few days in this space, crafting the flyer, and letting those natural tones guide the design, I was scrolling through my feed, and there it was—the Pantone Color of the Year. I quickly did a double-take and returned to my design template; I could not believe it (or perhaps I understood). It perfectly matched the colors I had been drawn to for the flyer!

This color, backed by a global design institution, embodies a similar vibe to what I had just been working on. It wasn’t planned. It wasn’t forced. It was one of those magical moments where my creative intuition aligned with something far greater.

Color Creates Emotion: Inspired by Pantone's Color of the Year, 'Mocha Mousse,' these warm, natural tones reflect the comforting, grounded essence of connection and authenticity. Perfect for designs that tell a story and spark a feeling.

And this is what makes designing through Designed Exclusively Yours so fulfilling. My work isn’t just about creating pretty visuals. It’s about deeply understanding the communities I work with—what speaks to and inspires them and how to connect them to the heart of their mission. Whether it’s a Mommy and Me program, a school event, or an initiative to engage donors, I immerse myself in research and trends, and I let the values of each organization guide my designs.

This week, it was about creating something fresh and grounded. But the real magic lies in the process—those moments when research, intuition, and creativity come together to build something meaningful. It’s not just about following trends; it’s about shaping stories that resonate deeply with the people they’re meant for.

That’s the value I bring to every project—designs that go beyond the surface and connect authentically with the audience. Looking back at this flyer, I see more than just a design. I know my clients trust me to bring their vision to life. And that’s what keeps me inspired every day.
